Intro to Zapier Integration

Overview

Zapier integration allows you to connect 5day.io with other tools using automated workflows.

Once enabled, you can use 5day.io as a trigger to start workflows in other apps, or as an action where other apps create tasks in 5day.io.

All workflow configuration is done directly inside Zapier. 5day.io provides account-level enablement and secure user-level connection.

Why Integration Is Important

Teams often use multiple tools to manage their work. Without automation, tasks must be created manually and information is copied between systems. This increases effort and creates room for errors.

With Zapier integration, repetitive steps can run automatically. Tasks can be created from other tools, and actions in 5day.io can trigger workflows elsewhere. This helps teams save time and keep information consistent across systems.

Permissions Required to Enable Zapier Integration

Zapier integration includes three permission checks.

First, an Account Admin must enable Zapier from Account Settings → Integration Center → Zapier. If the integration is disabled at the account level, users will not be able to use Zapier with 5day.io.

Second, each user must connect their own account from My Settings → Integration Center → Zapier. This authorizes Zapier to access that user’s 5day.io account.

Third, when using Zapier to create tasks in a project, the user must have both Project Edit permission and Add Task permission. Without these permissions, Zapier will not be able to create tasks in that project.

Key Features of Zapier Integration

5day.io as a Trigger

You can configure Zapier to start a workflow when a new task is created in 5day.io.

The trigger requires you to select a project. You can optionally apply filters such as section, task type, task status, priority, assignee, and whether to include subtasks. These filters help you control when the workflow should run.

5day.io as an Action

Zapier can create a new task in 5day.io based on events from other apps.

When configuring this action, you must select a project and provide a task name. You can also set additional details such as task type, task status, assignee, start date, due date, section, priority, and description.
